Sometimes I'm not sure how I managed before having this piece in my kitchen . . . the butter is so soft and you can feel good about keeping it on the counter. You pack the "cup" part (also the lid) with almost a full stick of butter, and put a little cool water in the "crock" part. This piece is from the first firing of our new wood kiln, and is a deep orange color. It will hold one stick of butter!
